What is onlays & inlays?

At times a restoration is slightly too large for a filling to be placed but too small for a porcelain crown to be necessary.

Onlay/Inlay can be made from several different tooth coloured materials and is made in the dental laboratory

Our dentists might recommend placing a onlay / inlay for a variety of reasons but, in general, most of these reasons will usually fall within one of the following basic categories:

1. To restore a tooth to its original shape.

2. To strengthen a tooth.

3. To improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth
